People make and shape their politicians

Bill Koul
As India inches closer to the general elections of 2019, it continues to face numerous indigenous issues, such as pollution, corruption, rape, health issues, unemployment and other social issues. Politicians alone must not be blamed for those issues. They are born out of people, so people must accept their equal share of the blame too.
A country is as good as its people. People make and shape a country. The people of India must own their country and proactively look after it. But do they? A country is defined by the values, conscientiousness, citizenship and discipline exhibited by its people. Politicians are just the sample representatives of the people. Unless Indian people improve qualitatively and conscientiously, the quality of Indian politics and politicians will never improve.
In most cases, you may receive a blank look when you ask that pointed question to a common person in India, “As an individual, what are you prepared to do and sacrifice for the country?” Or, in some cases, you may hear a counter question: “What can we do, we work hard to survive. We pay tax. The corrupted system will not allow us do anything. Nothing will happen unless we have good leaders.” You may even hear the following sweeping statements:
* “Everyone is corrupt because the politicians are corrupt.”
* “Bureaucracy is the biggest problem in this country.”
* “The British looted us and gave us a bad education system.”
People carry great expectations from their Governments and leaders but, strangely, do not spell any expectations from themselves. They don’t realise their leaders and lawmakers mirror their own reflections. Undoubtedly, the country needs good politicians but that will not happen unless the country produces good citizens. People will keep getting what they deserve.
The tragedy is that the educated and wise people in India, who can make such a significant difference, are happily and silently watching their country drifting along. Some even defend the system! Paradoxically, but not surprisingly, most of them strive to send their children abroad, for education and permanent settlement. Perhaps, they know the state of future living conditions in the country. As such, most young Indians endeavour to go abroad – for undergraduate and post graduate studies, and some with jobs – with intention to return for holidays but never for living back in India.
For TRP and business purposes, the Indian electronic mass media keeps busy with mainly the political debates and discussions, whilst more serious national issues – population, liveability, education, corruption and a range of sickening social issues, such as rape and dowry – remain ignored.
Whilst India’s brightest minds work at the cutting edge of science and technology, its policy makers and politicians endeavour to divide the country along the regional, religious, ethnic and caste lines. For a reason, religion and caste, and not the human well-being and development, drive and characterise the Indian political thought. Indian politicians have polarised the Indian community.
India will potentially become the world’s most populous country in the next five to ten years and that may be great news for the politicians and the multinationals, as their respective market shares and profits will potentially increase as a direct result of the population growth. The more people, the better for them! Sadly, the more uneducated and ignorant people in the country, even much better for the politicians!
The country is paying a heavy price for its uncontrolled population growth and the economic growth of a few, by way of a steady erosion of its traditional civil, social, environmental and moral ethics. For earning respect in India, one does not need academic degrees or knowledge. Money talks in India! If you are able to wear expensive designer clothes, heavy gold jewellery and diamond rings, drive expensive cars and live in expensive areas and in large houses. With lean-looking, poorly-fed, servants buzzing around you, you tend to think you are no less than a god.
In India, power and money are worshipped. The political candidates who look educated gentle and harmless don’t generally win elections. Survival of the fittest in the country proves humans are herd animals and nothing more. If you don’t wield power and look physically strong and / or threatening, you will be consumed by others, one way or the other. It is a jungle out there!
Your entire body language will change as you become wealthy – your gait, language and tone, and your handshake. You will be expected to know and brush shoulders with the important and influential people – in government and political circles, business and media circles, and the police and judiciary. Most importantly, you will be known and feared for your sting, therefore, people will speak with you with utmost respect and subservience, albeit it is different what they will call you at your back!
The county’s current value system is characterised by the people’s poor uncivil behaviour on the roads and general lifestyle People play loud music during the night hours at social and religious events, without a care for any sick person or a student in the neighbourhood who may be preparing for examinations.
Population growth has corrupted the nation.
As a direct result of mind-boggling population growth (four times since 1947) and an ever-growing competition – driven by ever-increasing demand to supply ratio in most walks of everyday life – corruption has become an accepted way of life in India, so have bullying, aggression and arrogance.
People have developed very ingenious ways of individual survival and prosperity, most of which pass through the paths of corruption. Ironically, many see corruption as a normal way of life – ‘aisa he hotahai – sab chaltahai – mainukee – kya problem hai?
A prevalent herd mentality and mental blindness – to feed mindless social extravaganzas – have given birth and acceptability to corruption. The lavish lifestyle of the rich and the famous drives corruption at all socio-economic levels, because the common person wants to mirror them. Not many people are capable to even think for a moment what they are doing and what they ought to be doing. Peer pressure and tendency to show off amongst the middle-class makes them to blindly follow the everyday social trends set by others, such as novelties in lavish weddings, private schooling, expensive holidays and outdated rituals etc.
A relatively honest person, who falls to social pressures, ends up becoming poorer. Brave and conscientious people, who exercise austerity and don’t indulge in corruption or social extravaganzas, risk being called black-sheep and outcasts. An average person who does not have money – for bribing officials or an influential jack – generally suffers.
People alone can save the country.
In an ethnically, socially and economically heterogeneous India, it is not possible to make all people happy unless they are educated and made to work conscientiously for the country, and demonstrate a national character.
Different sections of the Indian community live in different ages, and pull the nation in different directions. Unless they all move together – coherently – into the current day and age, India will keep paying heavily for its people’s faults. Who can bring people together to achieve the common goals of country’s health, sustainability and prosperity? Only people can, they are the real power. But that will happen when they wake up, when they are educated, when they become determined to bring about a generational change.
To give vent to their frustration, out of sheer desperation and a short-term memory loss, people exercise their democratic right to vote, which allows them to keep changing the governments, but only to find themselves back in the same old situation. Their impatience, lack of vision and lack of character work against them in the broader terms and damage the country as a whole in the longer term. Change is the only constant in India, but not the human development.
Myopically, due lack of a national character, most Indians don’t care what happens to their country in five years or 100 years. They just want quick fixes so that their daily lives improve dramatically without any input from them. No wonder they fall prey to irresponsible election promises (equivalent to bribes), such as reduction in electricity bill or waving off farming loans, not even questioning once how any government can afford such luxury overheads.
The common people struggle in their daily lives regardless of who lord over them. Many of them – especially those who produce more than two children (some up to six or more from a one wife, or many more children from several wives) – must be blamed for their poverty, illiteracy and daily struggles.
If people don’t work and care for the country, and put their country before their own self, they must not expect their leaders to do any magic for the country. Only when people realise enough is enough, let us rise and help ourselves, magic will happen! Unless and until that does happen, India has absolutely no hope.
Indians must choose their representatives carefully, solely based on merit and past performance, and not just emotions. The onus is well and truly on the people of India. Only people matter.
India follows a Westminster form of governance, and not a military dictatorship. People have the democratic power to vote. If people don’t exercise their sacred right to vote judiciously, with prudence and vision, they must not expect India to improve dramatically.

MARCH 2016

Coolpad Note 3 Lite:

Coolpad which entered India few months ago with its Coolpad Note 3 which became popular as the cheapest phone with Fingerprint scanner in India has launched a bit toned down version of the phone as Coolpad Note 3 Lite, which also comes with a Fingerprint scanner and has now become the cheapest to come with Fingerprint scanner in India. You can use the fingerprint scanner to quickly unlock the device, you can also protect the installed apps on the phone with the help of built-in app “FP lock” and can use the fingerprint scanner to unlock them. Design wise, the phone carries similar design of the Coolpad Note 3 which is very simple except the Golden borders surrounding the phone’s front. Soft Mate finish back panel feels good in hands and gives good grip. It features a 5 inches HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display with 294 ppi pixel density and good display quality. The phone runs on 1.3 GHz 64-bit Mediatek MT6735 Quad-Core Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM, which is the highest RAM you can get in a phone under 7000 Rs. The performance of the phone is good and it handles gaming well. The Coolpad Note 3 Lite sports a 13 MP rear camera which has good depth but the colors look little washed out. It has a 5 MP front facing camera which produces decent selfies. It runs on Android v5.1 Lollipop with company’s highly customised COOLUI 6.0 skin running on top. It is a dual sim smartphone supporting 4G on both the sims. It has got 16 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 32 GB. The phone is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery which gives a battery life of around one day with normal usage. Overall, the Coolpad Note 3 Lite comes with unmatched specs and features at this price. It is specially good in performance and the fingerprint scanner, at the same time, phones with better UI, camera and design are also available at this price but, if you look at the complete package it is a great value for money phone and is currently the best mobile under 7000 Rs. in India.

Q: Why are there are no Developer Options in Redmi 2? How do I enable USB debugging?
A: When you connect your phone to a PC to manage the phone through third-party software, it may prompt you to enable the USB debugging option. The USB debugging function can be found in the phone’s Developer Options. But for Android 4.2 and higher versions, Google hides the Developer Options, by default. Since Redmi 2 employs Android 4.4.4, the Developer Options on the phone are hidden.

Method to enable Developer Options: Go to “Settings” >> “About Phone” >> “MIUI Version” (tap seven times).

Now "Developer Options" is enabled.

To view go to "Settings" >> "Additional settings" >> ""Developer Options".

You can now enable USB debugging in Developer Options.

Iron Removal filter for a house with Iron media like BIRM , GREEN SAND and MNO2

Know the signs to identify iron in water
Look for these signs around your home that can indicate iron in your water:
  • Dry, itchy skin
  • Dull hair
  • Worn, scratchy clothes
  • Lime scale or other build up around drains, faucets, and fixtures
  • Water that takes a lot of soap or time to lather
  • Rust-colored stains in sinks and tubs

LIMIT:Iron and Manganese < 0.3 ppm
Iron Water Treatment: The most common method of removing iron from borewell water is by using Manganese Greensand or BIRM.

Product Name: Iron Filter for a small house
Description :
FLOW::1000 LPH (Liter per Hour)
 VESSEL : FRP PENTAIR
·        Filter Media: MnO2,Green sand , Birm Media, Activated Carbon, Anthracite,Treated Sand, Fine Sand, Gravels, and Sodium hypo Chloride (Filtering Media used as per the water test report, so,water test report compulsory)
·         Pipeline: Frontal 1” pipe with Multiport Valve for service, Backwashing & rinse etc.
·
Cost : Rs.19,500/= Per piece. Tax and transport extra.
Maintenance Cost:The Iron Media will last 3 years minimum and the FRP vessel life is 20 years.
Labour Cost: Minimum labour is required.

PLS CONTACT US AT saleemasraf@gmail.com , 09899300371

For most residential situations, a 1000LPH is the maximum you should consider.Other capacities available are 2000 LPH, 3000LPH, 4000LPH and 5000 LPH.

       ABOUT THE IRON REMOVAL MEDIA

An iron problem is characterized by the red-brown staining of bathroom fixtures and laundry. In well water, iron usually occurs in its ferrous state. The water is clear when drawn but once exposed to air the iron changes into a ferric (oxidized) state. The water turns red and forms insoluble “rust” particles. Staining can be caused by as little as 0.3 milligrams per litre (mg/L).
industries like pulp and paper mills, tanneries, textile plants, dye houses and laundries, it is almost impossible to operate with iron or manganese bearing waters since they would produce objectionable stains, streaks, spots and off-colors on many manufactured products. Iron and manganese also foul ion exchange resins. Hence, it is necessary to include a pre treatment stage in most ion exchange processes.
If the major problem in borewell water is iron, then the best solution is to go for either a Manganese Greensand or BIRM treatment of the well water.

BIRM is an efficient and economical method of removing dissolved iron and manganese compounds from raw water supplies. The physical characteristics of Birm provide an excellent filter media which is easily cleaned by backwashing to remove the precipitant. Birm is not consumed by iron removal and therefore offers a tremendous economic advantage over many other iron removal methods. Birm is not meant for removal of hydrogen sulfide or that "rotten egg" odor. A manganese green sand media,  is more suited for that task.

Advantages:
  • No chemicals to purchase for
    maintenance. Regeneration not
    required.
  • Iron removal efficiency is extremely high.
  • Works best at PH 6.8 or above.
  • Negligible labor cost:
  • Durable material with a long life and wide temperature range.

Greensand is formulated from a glauconite greensand which is capable of removing iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide from water through oxidation and filtration. Manganese and soluble iron are oxidized and precipitated by contact with higher oxides of manganese on the greensand granules. The hydrogen sulfied is eliminated by oxidation to sulfate and an insoluble precipitate. When the manganese greensand bed is saturated, it is regenerated with a weak potassium permanganate solution which is rinsed down the drain. The potassium permanganate is available locally at nearly all hardware and home improvement stores. You will need guidance to set the backwashing dosing of potassium permanganate, so contact some experienced person for it.

Advantages:

  • Iron reduction over wide pH range
  • Effective reduction of hydrogen sulfide in addition to iron and/or manganese
  • No harmful effects from a chlorine feed
  • Low attrition for long bed life

Manganese di oxide: It helps elimination of iron, hydrogen sulphide, and manganese from water supplies.

You will need to consult an expert in water treatment to decide on the best treatment for well water with high iron content.

Why RO water purifier in the kitchen( Domestic 10 LPH Reverse Osmosis ) ???

There are advantages and disadvantages in every technology.

CASE STUDY: NEW DELHI.
The area where I stay in New Delhi,India, the ground water is contaminated because of Dirty Yamuna River flowing nearby. And there is no piped water from Govt. The only option for drinking is Domestic RO (10 LPH) at home or the 20 liter JAR supplied by PRIVATE water companies. And for all other purposes ,people are installing water softener in the bore well water..If they dont use water softener, then the domestic RO membrane gets damaged and is to be changed twice a year.

RO is the only technology which can remove Bacteria, Iron, fluoride, Arsenic and other chemical contaminants. Arsenic and other heavy metals in well water is one of the most dangerous aspects of drinking well water. So you should have a fail safe water purifier system for Arsenic by installing a Point of Use - RO water purifier in the kitchen where water for drinking and cooking is taken.Reverse Osmosis is though expensive, is available as domestic filter. Once the membrane is clogged, it cant filter water anymore, so you always get pure water. This is not so with any other technology.

What is the desirable quality of drinking water?
As per the Bureau of Indian Standards, the desirable quality of drinking water is that which has TDS (Total Dissolved Salts) content of 500 ppm or less (ppm stands for parts of the salt present in a million parts of water). Where water of this quality is not easily available, the compromise level is water having upto 2000 ppm.
It is to be borne in mind that in some places, iron salts may be present and if the content of iron salts is more than the permissible 0.4ppm, even if the total salt content is less than the desired level, the iron salts will have to be removed before drinking that water. There are also some pockets West Bengal and U.P. where the water contains Arsenic. This is poisonous and so here also the same rule applies. In some pockets again, fluoride salts may be present which affect the bones if that water is drunk. Using this water for non-potable purposes is however not harmful.
Another point to be remembered is that water with very low salt content is not very palatable and therefore where the total salt content is less than 500, reducing it to 10 or 20 by RO is not only meaningless from the point of view of wastage of water but also from the cost and loss of palatability aspects. In cases where the salt content is not much higher than 2000 ppm, a simpler route would be to harvest rainwater which will dilute the salts and bring it within potable limits progressively.

What is the Reverse Osmosis (RO) Process?

Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology has been used for years in various industries to separate dissolved solids from water by forcing the water through a semi-permeable membrane. RO is also commonly used to purify drinking water and desalinate seawater to yield potable water. The water and other molecules with lower molecular weight (specific weight of molecules allowed to pass through is dependent on the selected membrane) pass through the micropores in the membrane, yielding a purified water stream called the permeate. Larger molecules are retained by the membrane as well as a portion of the water that does not pass through the membrane. This concentrated stream is called the concentrate or RO reject.

REVERSE OSMOSIS PERCENT REJECTION CALCULATOR    http://www.apswater.com/calcs.asp

While RO is an effective method for handling wastewater, what to do with the concentrate or reject water (typically as much as 20-40% of the RO feed water volume) can be an issue. Specifically, the high salinity in RO reject / RO concentrate can make it prohibitive for discharge to a local sewer facility. Hauling the wastewater to a treatment facility can also be prohibitively expensive.

What can we do with the RO reject water?
In RO systems of small capacity suitable for domestic purposes, the rejected component may be as high as 40%. The process therefore is a wasteful one with much of the water having to be thrown away.
Diverting large volumes of this highly salty water into the sewage line could result in acting against the smooth movement of its contents. The reject will not be tolerated by normal garden plants. It will form deposits on the floor and sanitary ware. It is also not advisable to divert it to the septic tank.
If the water subjected to RO has less than 1000 ppm say, then the salt content in the reject water will not be much and it can be used for gardening or flushing. But the point is that this water need not be subjected to RO at all in the first place.
In Industries, we treat RO Reject by Solar evaporation or Forced evaporation.
evaporation is a time-tested methodology for reducing the water portion of water-based waste.
Typical RO reject / RO concentrate TDS concentrations are often in the range of 30,000 – 50,000 mg/liter. The salts in solution can range from highly soluble sodium and potassium salts to less soluble or reverse soluble calcium and barium salts.

SHORT LIFE HISTORY OF SAWAL PEER SAHIB[R]:

Islam was spread in India by a band of missionary saints and not by kings or conservative Alims churned by Madrasas. These broadminded saints introduced innovations to adapt to Indian soil and achieved the targets-spreading Islam and achieving communal harmony. They were endowed by Allah Taala with miraculous powers that drew to them millions of people of all communities and this helped the cause of Islam.A few of these saints came to Assam and the most prominent was Azan Pir (R).According to historian Nila Gohain(Ref.Kharaigurir Azan?), Sawal Pir(R) came to Assam a few years before Azan Pir's arrival. Shri Gohain has also stated that Sawal Pir became head of the Muslim Community after Azan Pir's (R) death.

As per a Zikir, Azan Pir was in Assam around the year 1635. From this, Sawal Pir's arrival in Assam can also be determined.

Ahom king had witnessed the miraculous powers of Azan Pir. He, therefore, tried to ascertain the genuineness of Sawal Pir?s profession by knowing whether he possessed similar powers. He put Sawal Pir(R) to three tests(ref Nila Gohain). One, to cross the Dikhow river on foot, without a boat. Two, to withstand three poisoned arrows shot at his hands and feet. Three, to remain for a week buried underground without access to water or air. Sawal Pir (R) passed all three tests. The king was highly impressed and he donated a big piece of land, near the place where he was buried for a week, for his residence. A princess was also given in marriage to him and a pond was constructed nearby in honour of the princess. The name of the princess was  Khenduri Konwari [or Henduri Konwari] and the pond is still called Khenduri Pukhuri(Henduri Pukhuri).
After his burial for a week when he was brought overground, SawalPir was alive and well but he kept his eyes shut. He told the kings men to move his head to face uninhabited areas. And when he opened his eyes, his anger (at being kept underground) burst forth from his eyes in the form of rays that burnt down a sugarcane plantation that stood in front of him. From that time onward the sugarcane that grew on that land appeared as half burnt. The descendants of the Pir have been called Kuhiarbarias(or sugarcane people) for commemorating this miraculous event.

The real name of Sawal Pir(R) was Ali Masum. Once, while he was a grown-up child, he turned himself to a baby for sometime, in order to teach a lesson to his mother. So he was popularly known as 'Sawal Pir' as Sawal means a baby in Assamese.

The grave of this saint with miraculous powers lies in Ramugaon near Simaluguri of Sibsagar district. For decades the grave has been well protected by neighbouring villagers, all Hindus. They respect it  and get results. And other Muslims, who visit his Mazar get miraculous benefits. I know two definite instances. The conservation and improvement of the Mazar had  been undertaken by a committee headed by Marhum Syed Imran Hussain of Borbheta, Jorhat. After great efforts land for the access road has been purchased. This is a big achievement. But the road has to be built on the land. A well has to be dug. A wall has to be erected. A regular Khadim has to be appointed with monthly salary. All this requires considerable funds. Recently Dr. Syed Iftikhar Ahmed has generously promised to finance the entire cost of building a small two-room RCC structure: one room for the Khadim and the other one for use by visitors. A big portion of the required fund has already been paid.

How ENVO was born

ENVO IS MY BRAND & WAS BORN ON 1994. THE FOLLOWING IS THE STORY OF ENVO.

My career began with my respected Uncle  Prof Dr. A.F.S.A.Aowal, I learned the ABCD of  waste water treatment from him. I was working under him as part time lecturer at Delhi college of engineering, Kashmere Gate,Delhi .

Also, I was working as design engineer in National Associates, Delhi. I was staying in 27,Hayat manzil, Basti hazrat nizamuddin, delhi at that time.

ONE FINE MORNING IN 1994, I FOUND MYSELF ALL ALONE. EVERYONE WORKING WITH ME AT NATIONAL ASSOCIATE DESERTED ME WHOLESALE.

That first kick stunned me for three days and I sat at banglawali masjid (Headquarter of Tabligh Jamaat) at basti Hzt nizamuddin for three days to find out my own roots. A few like my Father  Syed Ishtiaque Ahmad saheb,  Prof Dr. Rashid Hayat Siddiqui saheb of AMU, Dr Chandra Prakash Ji , Vipan Kundra Ji etc gave me "MORAL" support. And M/s Syed Envo Protect (India) Pvt Limited, New Delhi was finally born in 1994....the ENVO brand was born in 1994. Mr.Vipan Kundra, my CA was one of the share holders. It is Vipan kundra ji who gave and registered the name Syed Envo Protect (India) Pvt Limited even without consulting me,because I  was in Assam at that time. He told me that one day I will become international ,thats why he added india to the name.

Later I opened one another company by the name of Envo Projects, New Delhi which is still continuing by the grace of God when the private limited company was dissolved due to various reasons.

I received my first career break of my company Syed ENVO PROTECT (I) PVT LTD , a  consultancy at rupees five thousand only at M/s Shade and colors in okhla industrial area phase –I of owner Mr.Deepu Marwah. It’s a cloth dyeing factory.

I left my part time lectureship job in Delhi college of engineering, kashmere gate, delhi  just to concentrate on my own company ENVO. Each and  Everyone called me "lunatic" at that time as nobody was doing full time consultancy in water and waste water treatment in 1994, almost everyone had a govt job. Only gupta ji of Ghaziabad and a few are in the market as full timers. So i jumped  at a completely unknown thing with full confidence in GOD AND MYSELF.At that point of time nobody imagined that this pollution control sector will grow such like this. I created a tag line for my company “THE POLLUTION CONTROL PEOPLE” which i still use in my letterhead.

Many companies are created later on with my credentials and full support by the grace of God. Now i have taken it for granted. I mean, its natural to have a new team after each two three years. So i never try to stop people, anyway they will go , so let them go and try their own luck, good for them, good for me also..But this time as a safety device  i have retained my own company "Envo Projects" under my sole control (Owner) so that i can fall back. People always learn from mistakes. Life is the best teacher.

AND NOW TODAY(09/10/2011), FROM MY HEART I  THANK ALL MY CO WORKERS WHO ARE WITH ME NOW AND WHO LEFT, WITHOUT THEIR BLOOD AND SWEAT ENVO PROJECTS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN WHAT IT IS TODAY.BECAUSE ITS MY LEARNING CURVE TOO. I ALSO MADE MANY MISTAKES DURING THE GROWTH AND LEARNED FROM IT.

Change your attitude towards life. Do not look for perfection and CONTROL in everything in life. I understood that my livelihood (RIZQ)  cant be  taken away by  anyone.  Put your  best  efforts in what you do and than leave the result to ALLAH. I have plan but Allahs plan is much much better than mine. I have firm belief in ALLAH.

During this journey many people came and left me. I thank all of them for their contribution for my growth. They are destined to be with me for that particular period. This is Allah’s plan.

Always sleep with a clean heart. I know many of us get wronged throughout the day or have gotten wronged in the past. Forgive. Not only forgive, but forgive and forget. Dont even hold a grudge against that person in your heart. Keep your heart completely pure.Forgive brothers and sisters before you sleep each night. this is one of the practices of the greatest people ever to live and this is how we will reach those highest levels of spirituality.

Forgiveness is good for your own well being, its about giving yourself permission to let go of the painful past. Forgiveness is not something we do for that particular toxic person,it is something we do for ourselves so we can move on to a better future. We forgive, not because that toxic person deserves it,but because we deserve peace, for a pure heart.
