How responsibly are you networking?

How responsibly are you networking?

Priyanka Ohri
How often do we use social media for a cause? Twitter, Facebook, You Tube, such revolutionary services are at our disposal and that too for free. Still, we choose to use them for smaller purposes like telling our friends about what we eat. Not that it's not important; but the point I am trying to make is, when we will move to the next level of sharing bigger things than just the menu?
Anyway, everyone has a choice and people make a choice that suits them and of course, me also comes in them and the people. As it was only few days back when my status on FB had to do something about how I made someone feel smaller than me. Ah! Was it even worth it? I really don't think so; I used a preciously free space for something so mean.  Well, I am ashamed, but if to err is human then to learn from other people is also being human. And, I have learnt that if it's in my heart, I can really do something good and that too just by using a free service like Facebook. Of course, I have to pay in time, but in the end it will be all worth it. The source of all the inspiration is an anonymous guy on Facebook that goes under the title of Unruly Rebel, who puts in his time to bring to the notice of government and people of Shimla issues, no matter how big or small. The issue can be as big as broken roads and as small as drinking water leakage. Unruly Rebel has tried from August 2010 to do his best in throwing light on the issues that need immediate attention. When this guy made his presence on FB this August, it was surprising who could do this, as people in a small town like Shimla usually keep away from such mess. However, after two months of his birth I have tracked him down and have managed to get few words out of him to inspire and to be inspired.  I am really sorry; I cannot reveal his true identity, as per his request. But, my conversation with him was definitely not a mundane one, but a motivating experience, which ultimately led me to promise myself that I will create awareness about at least one issue through my Facebook presence every week, even if not every day. I really hope, he inspires all of you too in some way.
PO: When did you decide on being Unruly Rebel, on Facebook?
UR: (Very modestly) it has just been three months now.
PO: What was your main purpose behind starting this on FB? I mean, it is a pretty small level that you have started it on?
UR: The only reason that I wanted to start this was to show the government what I saw every day. I wanted to bring out the corruption and the chaos that exists behind the closed doors in government offices. And, it was the only way I could involve government and people together on the same level.
PO: How much time do you spend on it every day, on an average?
UR: Let's say, approximately 2-3 hours every day.
PO: Are you the only one who unearths such issues to be put up or others also?
UR: I do it most often, but then other people also mail in sometime with information, videos and pictures.
PO: What was the first thing that you put on the page?
UR: It was a small issue on water leakage. I recorded the proof, put it on, complained to the MC Commissioner and other concerned officers, the result was that the leaking tank was fixed the next day.
PO: What came next?
UR: This time I pointed out people who were being unruly. It was at Goel Apartments where sewage system and even drinking water supply was being compromised.  I made a complaint to the Commissioner, the CM and other concerned authorities and the result was that a case was filed against the owner of the building, which is still pending in JIMC court.
PO: Is there any monetary investment from your side in this little project?
UR: Nothing except for few phone calls, I do not have to spend a dime on anything.
PO: What was the next interesting thing that you did or as I say, what was the next world changing thing on Unruly Rebel?
UR: The next best thing was when I clicked a 'policewala' smoking cigarette right behind the sigh saying no smoking. I put the picture on and filed a complaint with the DSP and other concerned authorities and as a result that 'policewala' was 'supposedly' transferred, as he wasn't seen on duty the next day.
PO: How many people have mailed you so far for contribution?
UR: So far, only 3-4 people have mailed in.
PO: Ok, that is less, but it's just been three months. Have you contacted any media for any collaborative purposes? It could actually be huge, may be even solving your purpose on the larger scale?
UR: No I have not, as I think FB is a platform big enough for now.
PO: OK, that is fair enough, finally what is your vision for Unruly Rebel.
UR: I will continue with this till the time I can and of course, if people will join in it will be better and only then it will work.
PO: Before I go, what are your further plans?
UR: I am planning a sting!
Now, that's a huge plan and I wish him all the best. I wish that more people join in and, I hope like me everyone is motivated too, to spread awareness about at least one issue through their status on social networking sites. And, maybe even we can start as our own tiny rebels at our own tiny levels. I mean, if we decide, we can contribute in our own way, like Unruly Rebel does.

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 laptop – Price,Specs

What to look for in a netbook

  • Memory: Get one with 2 GB of memory .
  • Chip: Netbooks use CPU's that consumes little power. The most popular chip is currently the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N450 or higher.
  • Disk Drive: PCs use hard drives with moving parts. This isn't a good solution for a netbook because they get dropped and that can break a hard drive. The best solution for a netbook is a solid state drive (SSD)like the ones in a USB drive.
  • OS: Your options are XP or Windows 7. Vista never really worked well with netbooks. With the newer more powerful netbooks I would recommend getting Windows 7.Home Premium
  • Battery Life: Because netbooks are smaller than laptops their batteries tend to last longer than a laptop's ones. Don't consider anything under 4 hours.
  • Keyboard size and spacing: Many of the new netbooks have keyboards that are 90% the size of a standard laptop keyboard. However if you have chubby fingers, like me, you should take a close look at both the size and the spacing on the keyboards.
  • Size and weight: These vary between netbooks. Remember you are going to be carrying this item around with you. Weight varies between 2 and 4 pounds.
  • Ports: A netbook should have a VGA port to connect it to a screen and 2 or more USB flash drive.
  • Wi-Fi and megabit LAN are standard with these mini laptops. Newer netbooks come with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

different mini laptops on the market

My uses of any electronic devices is very rough as I have to tour a lot . So, I am looking for
1.Somthing smaller than laptops and bigger than mobiles )Ease of carrying)
2.Something that have Solid State Drive(SSD) Hard Disk ( fear of loosing the machine if I accidently drop it or misuse/rough use )
3.Low priced
The following MINI LAPTOP Caught my eye as it had everything that I prefer in my MINI laptop. The only thing is that the price is a little bit high.I am a DELL fan, so I can accomodate a little.
Dell Inspiron Mini 9 – MRP : 20000Rs
Dell Inspiron Mini 9

Dell Inspiron Mini 9

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is seriously a good looking laptop which can be considered to buy if you are looking to gift a laptop to someone. Not only the looks but also the features are rich because its powered by Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor which takes very less power usage and also comes with a 1Gb of RAM along with 16Gb SSD Hard drive. The Screen Dimensions are 9.1″x6.8″ along with a thickness of 1.25-1.1″. The total weight is around 1kg and it does come under the Netbook Category. The laptop does look similar to the Asus 9″ Eee PC but is quite thinner and looks better. The Dell Mini 9 comes with 3 USB 2.0 Ports and SD Card Reader along with Ethernet, Bluetooth & Wifi Connectivity. Dont expect any CD Rom drive in these Netbook series because these are compact stuff which are generally connected to USB Drives. You get multiple inbuilt applications in this Laptop which are totally free and preinstalled for your daily need, though the keyword is quite small and you need to get habituated in order to use these small laptops. There are no ports in the front end and all the posts are situated on the sides of the Laptop. The battery life is around 3-4 hours based on the usage and the programs run and is quite ok when compared to the size and features of the Laptop though a 6-cell battery would have been expected rather than the current 4-cell battery. There are 2 models available in this based on the Operating System like Windows XP or Linux Ubuntu.

10 Basic Truths About Keeping Your Relationship Healthy

10 Basic Truths About Keeping Your Relationship Healthy

I think it's easy to make things more complicated than they need to be. Here are some basic rules of
the relationship road that will keep you headed in the right direction.
1. Successful relationships take work. They don't happen in a vacuum. They occur when the couples in them take the risk of sharing what it is that's going on in their hearts and heads.
2. You can only change yourself, not your partner. If you love someone and think that after a while he or she will alter behaviors you find uncomfortable, think again. If you want changes, put them on the table, so your partner knows what you need.
3. All arguments stem from our own fear or pain. When upset occurs, check out what's going on inside you rather than getting angry with your partner. Truth is that we usually aren't upset for the reasons we think we are.
4. Understand that men and women are very different. We're not from Mars or Venus; we're not even in the same solar system. Understanding and celebrating our differences will make living together more peaceful, interesting and fun.
5. Honor each other in some way every day. Every morning, you have the opportunity to make your relationship sweeter and deeper by recommitting to your mate. Feeling respected and cherished by the one you love makes life much nicer.
6. Anger is a waste of time. Anger also is a relationship killer because it makes you self-absorbed and won't allow you to see the good. If you are annoyed with your mate, give yourself some time to calm down and then gently discuss what's going on for you.
7. Get regular tune-ups. Go to a couples workshop, talk with a counselor or read a relationship book together at least once a year. Even if you don't think that you need ideas, and the process alone will strengthen your connection.
8. Find a way to become and stay best friends. For some, this sounds unromantic, but for those who live it, most say it's the best part of their time together.
9. Be responsible for your own happiness. No other person can make you happy. It's something that you have to do on your own. If you feel that it's your partner's fault, think again, and look within to find out what piece may be missing for you.
10. Give what you want to get. Our needs change with time. If you'd like to feel understood, try being more understanding. If you want to feel more love, try giving more. It's a simple program that really works.
There are no guarantees, but couples who practice these techniques have longer and stronger relationships than those who are not proactive in their love.

The Engineer

http://atdpweb.soe.berkeley.edu/2130/tstadelman/websiteproject/jokesmain.html

The Engineer

Hope this gives you some humor. . . . . Q: When does a person decide to become an engineer?
A: When he realizes he doesn't have the charisma to be an undertaker.

Q: What do engineers use for birth control?
A: Their personalities.

Q: How can you tell an extroverted engineer?
A: When he talks to you, he looks at your shoes instead of his own.

Q: Why did the engineers cross the road?
A: Because they looked in the file, and that's what they did last year.

Q: How do you drive an engineer completely insane?
A: Tie him to a chair, stand in front of him, and fold up a road map the wrong way.

You might be an engineer if:

Choosing between buying flowers for your wife and upgrading your RAM is a problem.

You take a cruise so you can go on a personal tour of the engine room.

In college, you thought Spring Break was metal fatigue failure.

The salespeople at the local computer store can't answer any of your questions.

At an air show, you know how fast the skydivers are falling.

For your wife's birthday you gave her a new CD-ROM drive or a Palm Pilot.

You can quote scenes from any Monte Python movie.

You can type 70 words per minute but you can't read your own handwriting.

You comment to your wife that her straight hair is nice and parallel.

You sit backwards on Disney rides so you can see how they do the special effects.

You have saved every power cord from all your broken appliances.

You have more friends on the Internet than in real life.

You know what http:// stands for.

You look forward to Christmas so you can put together the kids toys.

You see a good design, and have to change it.

You spent more on your calculator than you did on your wedding ring.

You still own a slide rule and know how to use it.

You think that people yawning around you are sleep deprived.

You window shop at Radio Shack.

Your laptop computer cost more than your car.

Your wife hasn't the foggiest idea of what you do at work.

You've already calculated how much you make per second.

You've tried to repair a $5 radio.

Parthenogenesis

parthenogenesis [Gr.,=virgin birth], in biology, a form of reproduction in which the ovum develops into a new individual without fertilization. Natural parthenogenesis has been observed in many lower animals (it is characteristic of the rotifers), especially insects, e.g., the aphid . In many social insects, such as the honeybee and the ant, the unfertilized eggs give rise to the male drones and the fertilized eggs to the female workers and queens. It has also been observed in some snakes, fish, and monitor lizards. The phenomenon is rarer among plants (where it is called parthenocarpy) than among animals. Unusual patterns of heredity can occur in parthenogenetic organisms. For example, offspring produced by some types are identical in all inherited respects to the mother. The phenomenon of parthenogenesis was discovered in the 18th cent. by Charles Bonnet . In 1900, JacquesLoeb,

BUT, never imagined it may connect with Prophet Jesus(A.S.) and his Birth without a father....wonderful reading....

The boy whose blood has no father

Pictures of spreads from New Scientist magazine

IN THE closest thing to a human virgin birth that modern science has ever recorded, British geneticists last week described the remarkable case of a young boy whose body is derived in part from an unfertilised egg. The discovery has provided a rare glimpse into the control of human development and the evolutionary changes that made sex essential for mammalian reproduction.

Parthenogenesis - development of an unfertilised female sex cell without any male contribution - is a normal way of life for some plants, insects and even lizards. Sometimes, an unfertilised mammalian egg will begin dividing, but this growth usually does not get far. The self-activated "embryo" will create rudimentary bone and nerve, but there are some tissues, such as skeletal muscle, that it cannot make, preventing further development. Instead, it becomes a type of benign tumour called an ovarian teratoma.

Why mammals should have evolved these blocks to parthenogenesis ...

Sex for 10 minutes is 'ideal'

http://www.ehow.com/how_5288242_keep-relationship-exciting-new.html

Make love often. This is a tough one to do in a relationship because work, kids, and household chores don't always leave time and energy for sex with your partner. But, sex is important in a relationship and should be made a priority. Try making a plan to make love at least twice a week: once during the week and once on the weekend. Stick to this as best you can so that you and your partner know that when to expect intimacy. While this isn't always romantic, you can make it so by turning on some soft music, lighting candles, or taking a bubble bath together. Making love will keep you and your partner close and keep the relationship new and exciting. Without sex, a relationship becomes dull and partners become more like roommates than lovers. It's important to make sex a priority so that both partners feel a connection to one another. By making love at least twice a week, you'll keep the spark a live and help your relationship to become exciting and new again.
It may come as a surprise to many people, but the most desirable length for sex is just 10 minutes, a survey of has revealed.

A survey of 50 members of the Society for Sex Threapy and Research, who counsel and treat couples with sexual problems, said that between one and two minutes was too short, three to seven minutes was acceptable, and anything over 13 minutes was too long.

The added that sex lasting between seven and 13 minutes was "desirable".

Contrary to popular fantasy about the need for hours of passionate activity, sex therapists say around ten minutes is perfectly satisfactory.

"Many men and women seem to believe the fantasy of all-night-long intercourse," the Telegraph quoted researcher Eric Corty, an associate professor of psychology at Penn State University, as saying.

"This seems a situation ripe for disappointment and dissatisfaction.

Proper SEX methods.

The missionary position. Or man-on-top is said to be the position that's best for getting pregnant. This is because this particular position allows for the deepest possible penetration, making it possible for the sperm to get deposited closest to the cervix. place her legs over your shoulders. This shortens her vaginal canal, so your penis feels bigger inside her.

Raise the hips.
Elevating the hips, which can be done by placing a pillow behind her, can also be helpful because this exposes the female cervix to as much semen as the male can release.

Orgasms. Finally, while this has nothing to do with sexual positions, there are also researches that suggest the importance of the female orgasm in conceiving. According to studies, female orgasm leads to contractions that could push sperm up into the cervix. The lesson: have fun while trying to conceive.
Q: Is male infertility a serious threat?
A: It accounts for 40 per cent of all infertility, primarily due to sperm defects. Sometimes this is brought on by external factors like tight innerwear, very hot baths, smoking, exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals. Sometimes there's a physiological basis-diabetes, hypothyroidism or genetic aberrations.
Q: What about infertility in women?
A: I see many young women who show signs and symptoms of polycystic ovaries, a condition associated with metabolic disorders and obesity. From job pressure to vehicular pollution, postponing parenthood to sexual liberation, fast food to sedentary lifestyle, all have been linked to infertility.
Conception Timeline
A: woman's fertility peaks between age 27 and 34. That's the best time to have the first baby. The best time to get pregnant? Watch out for the narrow window of time during ovulation, two weeks into the menstrual cycle. The life of a human egg is about 36 hours, while a sperm can survive in a woman's body for about 48 hours.

30% more chances of conception every month if a couple engages in unprotected sex at least two times a week.
Myth : Daily sex increases chances of pregnancy
Reality : No it doesn't. It may, in fact, bring down sperm count on the day of ovulation.

"dihydrogen monoxide." (H2O): Dangerous Chemical!

"dihydrogen monoxide." (H2O): Dangerous Chemical!

A student at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater Idaho Falls Science Fair, April 26. He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to alarmists practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our environment. In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical "dihydrogen monoxide."

And for plenty of good reasons, since:

  1. it can cause excessive sweating and vomiting
  2. it is a major component in acid rain
  3. it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
  4. accidental inhalation can kill you
  5. it contributes to erosion
  6. it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
  7. it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients
He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical.
  • Forty-three (43) said yes,
  • six (6) were undecided,
  • and only one (1) knew that the chemical was water.
The title of his prize winning project was, "How Gullible Are We?"

He feels the conclusion is obvious.
