The most commonly used media for arsenic removal in small treatment plants include: • Activated alumina
Arsenic removal by activated alumina is controlled by the pH and arsenic content of water. Arsenic removal is optimum in the narrow pH range from 5.5 to 6.0 when the surface is positively charged. The efficiency drops as the point of zero charge is approached and at pH 8.2, where the surface is negatively charged, the removal capacities are only 2–5% of the capacity at optimal pH (Clifford 1999). The number of bed volumes that can be treated at optimum pH before breakthrough is dependent on the influent arsenic concentration. The bed volume can be estimated using the following equation, where As is the initial arsenic concentration in water in micrograms per liter (Ghurye, Clifford, and Tripp 1999): Bed volume = 210,000 (As)-0.57 The actual bed volume is much lower due to the presence of other competing ions in natural water. Arsenic removal capacities of activated alumina have been reported to vary from 1 mg g-1 to 4 mg g-1 (Fox 1989; Gupta and Chen 1978). Clifford (1999) reported the selectivity of activated alumina as: OH-1>H2 AsO4 -1>Si(OH)3 O-1>HSeO3 -1>F>SO4 -2>CrO4 -2>>HCO3 -1>Cl-1>NO3 -1>Br-1>I-1 Regeneration of saturated alumina is carried out by exposing the medium to 4% caustic soda (NaOH), either in batch or by flow through the column resulting in high-arsenic-contaminated caustic waste water. The residual caustic soda is then washed out and the medium is neutralized with a 2% solution of sulfuric acid rinse. During the process about 5–10% of the alumina is lost and the capacity of the regenerated medium is reduced by 30–40%. The activated alumina needs replacement after 3–4 regenerations. As with the coagulation process, prechlorination improves the column capacity dramatically. The activated alumina-based sorptive media used in Bangladesh and India include: • BUET activated alumina • Alcan enhanced activated alumina • Apyron arsenic treatment unit • Oxide (India) Pvt. Ltd. • RPM Marketing Pvt. Ltd. Arsenic is removed by sorptive filtration through activated alumina. Some units use pretreatment (for example oxidation, sand filtration) to increase efficiency. The Alcan enhanced activated alumina arrangement is shown attached to a tubewell in figure 6 (see page 178). The unit is simple and robust in design. No chemicals are added during treatment and the process wholly relies on the active surface of the media for adsorption of arsenic from water. Other ions present in natural water, such as iron and phosphate, may compete for active sites on alumina and reduce the arsenic removal capacity of the unit. Iron present in shallow tubewell water at elevated levels will eventually accumulate in an activated alumina bed and interfere with flow of water through the bed. The unit can produce more than 3,600 liters of arsenic-safe drinking water per day for 100 families. Apyron Technologies Inc. (United States of America) has developed an

Design and Fabrication of portable Effluent Treatment Plant
for waste water from Oil Drilling . This has been successfully demonstrated in
the field at Duliajan , Assam to Oil India and O.N.G.C. officials.
(c)
Design and febrication of an Electro- flocculation Device
for colloidal waste water treatment like pulp and paper mill waste textile mill waste , tannery waste ,
distillery waste . This has been patronised by Tamil Nadu pollution control
Board and demonstrated at Erode and coimbatore, T.N.
(d)
Design and Febrication of a Dye recovery system from textile
mill effluent – project patronised by D.S.I.D.D.C
(e)
S.R.P (Sludge Reagent product ) method of treatment of
Drinking water . This reduces cost of conventional treatment of water by half ,
this method is already patented.
(f)
S.R.P. method of chemical Treatment of Sewage . This mothod
is cheaper in capital cost equal in running cost as compared to the biological
treatment and is free from odour and insect nuissance .This is also patented.
(g)
A new type of upflow septic tank is designed and installed
in a number of places . The biggest one is installed in the market place of
Durgapur . About 12 are working for the last 10 years in Okhla, New Delhi . It
requires a Soak pit , it has a far better effluent water quality and cost is
40% less than the conventional septic tank
(h)
A cheap method of desalination of sea water by using ultra
sound and electro flocculation . very encouraging results are seen in the lab .
prototype experimentation with actual sea water is expecteed in collaboration
with the Govt. of Tamilnadu.

মহান আল্লাহ তায়ালা শুধু মানুষ এবং জ্বিন জাতিকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন তার ইবাদত করার জন্য। আল্লাহ তায়ালার সৃষ্ট ১৮ হাজার মাকলুকাতের মধ্যে অন্য কোন প্রাণী কে আল্লাহ তায়ালার ইবাদত করতে হয় না। শুধু মানুষ এবং জ্বিনকে ইবাদন করতে হয়। তাই একজন মুসলমান হিসেবে আপনার জ্ঞানের প্রসার ঘটানেরা জন্য জ্বিন জাতির সৃষ্টির ইতিহাস জেনে রাখা দরকার।
চলুন আল কোরআনের আলোকে জ্বিন জার্তির সৃষ্টির ইতিহাস জেনে নিই-
সুরা আল জ্বিনে বলা হয়েছেঃ
বলুন, আমার প্রতি ওহী নাযিল করা হয়েছে যে, জ্বিনদের একটি দল কোরআন শ্রবণ করেছে, অতঃপর তারা বলেছেঃ আমরা বিস্ময়কর কোরআন শ্রবণ করেছি। (আয়াত-০১)
অথচ আমরা মনে করতাম মানুষ ও জ্বিন কখনও আল্লাহতা’আলা সম্পর্কে মিথ্যা বলতে পারে না। (আয়াত-০৫)
আর যখন আল্লাহতা’আলার বান্দা তাকে ডাকার জন্যে দন্ডায়মান হল, তখন অনেক জ্বিন তার কাছে ভিড় জমালো। (আয়াত-১৯)
অথচ আমরা মনে করতাম মানুষ ও জ্বিন কখনও আল্লাহতা’আলা সম্পর্কে মিথ্যা বলতে পারে না। (আয়াত-০৫)
আর যখন আল্লাহতা’আলার বান্দা তাকে ডাকার জন্যে দন্ডায়মান হল, তখন অনেক জ্বিন তার কাছে ভিড় জমালো। (আয়াত-১৯)
জ্বিন জাতির ইতিহাস
রাসুলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লামের পূর্বে থেকেই জ্বীনদের সাথে মানুষের উঠাবসা ছিল। তো আমি এখানে রাসুলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লামের ইন্তেকালের পর জীনদের সাথে মানুষের উঠাবসার কয়েকটি কাহিনী বলব। তাবেঈন হযরত মুয়ায বিন উবাইদুল্লাহ বিন আম্মার রহঃ বর্ণনা করেছেন আমি একবার হযরত উসমান রাঃ এর কাছে উপস্থিত ছিলাম। এমন সময় তাঁর কাছে একটা লোক এসে বলল, আমি আপনাকে এক বিস্ময়কর ঘটনা শুনাতে চাচ্ছি। আমি এক সফরে বিশাল মরুভূমির মধ্যে দিয়ে যাচ্ছিলাম। এমন সময় আমার সামনে দুটি ঘূর্ণি হাওয়া এল, একটি একদিকে আরেকটি আরেকদিক থেকে। উভয়ের মধ্যে টক্কর লাগল এবং মুকাবিলা হল। তারপর ঘূর্ণি হাওয়া দুইটি আলাদা হয়ে গেল।
ঊভয় ঘূর্ণির মধ্যে একটি ছিল আরেকটির চেয়ে বেশী জোরালো। ঘূর্ণি দুইটি যেখানে মিলিত হয়েছিল সেখানে আমি যেয়ে দেখতে পাই ওখানে বহু সংখ্যক সাপ মরে পরে আছে। এক সাথে এত সাপ আমার চোখে আগে কখনই দেখেনি। ঐ সাপ গুলির মধ্যে একটি সাপের শরীর থেকে মৃগনাভির খুশবু আসছিল। ঐ সাপটির রঙ ছিল হালকা সবুজাভ। আমার দৃড় বিশ্বাস হল যে এটা ঐ সাপের কোন সৎ কাজের কারণে হচ্ছে। সুতরাং আমি ঐ সাপটিকে নিজের পাগড়িতে জড়িয়ে দাফন করলাম। এরপর আমি নিজের গন্তব্যে যাচ্ছিলাম। এমন সময় এক ঘোষকের কন্ঠস্বর শুনলাম। সে বলল ওহে আল্লাহর বান্দা! এই ঘূর্ণিঝর ছিল জ্বীনদের দুটি গোত্র বনু শাইয়ান ও বনু আকিয়াশ এর মধ্যে যুদ্ধ। বনু শাইয়ান ছিল মুসলামান জ্বীনেরা আর বনু আকিয়াশ ছিল কাফের জ্বীনেরা। ওদের উভয়ের মধ্যে সংঘর্ষে বহু জ্বীন হতাহত হয়েছে। আর তুমি যাকে দাফন করেছে উনি ছিলেন সেই সম্মানিত জ্বীনদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত যাদের সম্পর্কে সূরা জ্বীনে আলোচনা করা হয়েছে।
মুসলিম বিশ্বে ২য় উমর নামে পরিচিত উমাইয়া খলিফা হযরত উমর বিন আব্দুল আযীয রহঃ এর সময় প্রধান সেনাপতি ছিলেন মূসা বিন নাসির। মূসা বিন নাসির মরক্কো, আলজেরিয়া থেকে আফ্রিকা মহাদেশের বহু দেশ জয় করেছিলেন। মূসা বিন নাসির একবার বলেন আলজেরিয়া অভিযান কালে এক পোড়া রাজপ্রাসাদ আমার চোখে পড়ে। আমি এই পোড়া বাড়িতে ১৭ টি সবুজ গড়া দেখতে পাই। তো আমি সেই গড়াগুলির একটির মাঝে ছিদ্র করি। সাথে সাথে এক দমকা বাতাস জোরে বের হয়ে আসে। বের হয়েই বলতে থাকে আল্লাহর কসম, হে আল্লাহর নবী। আগামীতে আমি আর কখন অন্যায় করবো না। মূসা বিন নাসির বুঝতে পারেন যে এই হল সেই জ্বিনদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত সূলায়মান আঃ যাদের কে কয়েদ করে রেখেছিলেন। এরপর সেই জ্বীন টা এদিক ওদিক তাকিয়ে বলল আল্লাহর কসম না আমি সুলায়মান কে দেখতে পাচ্ছি না তার সাম্রাজ্যকে। এরপর সেই জ্বীন টা অদৃশ্য হয়ে গেল।
ভারত বর্ষে ইলমে হাদীস চর্চ্চার যিনি অগ্রদূত উনি হলেন শাহ ওয়ালীউল্লাহ মুহাদ্দেস দেহলভী রহঃ। যুবক বয়সে শাহ ওয়ালী মুহাদ্দেস দেহলভী রহঃ একবার একটি সাপকে মেরে ফেলেন। তো এর কিছু দিন পর কিছু লোক এসে উনাকে বলে, আসেন একটা জানাজা পড়তে হবে। তো শাহ ওয়ালী মুহাদ্দেস দেহলভী রহঃ তাদের সাথে গেলেন। কিছুক্ষন হাটার পর উনি বুঝতে পারলেন যে উনি ভিন্ন একটা শহরে এসে উপস্থিত হয়েছেন। উনার আশপাশের এলাকার সাথে এই এলাকার কোন মিল নাই। তখন উনি বুঝতে পারেন উনি জ্বীনদের শহরে এসে উপস্থিত হয়েছেন। আর ঐ লোক গুলি হল জ্বীন। তো এই জ্বীনেরা উনাকে একটি আদালতে উপস্থিত করল। সেখানে জ্বীনদের কাজী জিজ্ঞাস করল আপনি কেন ঐ সাপটিকে হত্যা করলেন ? ঐ সাপটি জ্বীন ছিল। সে আপনার কাছে হাদিস শ্রবন করতে আসতো। তো শাহ ওয়ালী মুহাদ্দেস দেহলভি রহঃ বলেন রাসুলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম বলেছেন কেউ যদি তার আকৃতি পরিবর্তন করে তাইলে তাকে হত্যা করা জায়েজ। তো জ্বীনদের সেই এজলাসে উপস্থিত কয়েকজন জ্বীন তাবেইনও হাদিসটারস সত্যতার পক্ষে কথা বলে। এরপর জ্বীনেরা আবার উনাকে ভারত বর্ষে দিয়ে আসে।
রাসুলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম এর নব্যুয়তের খবর প্রথম মদীনায় পৌছেছিল জ্বীনদের মাধ্যমে। বায়হাকী শরীফে বর্ণিত আছে মদীনায় এক মহিলা থাকত। জাহেলিয়াতের যুগে ঐ মহিলার একজন জ্বীন প্রেমিক ছিল। সেই জ্বীন একবার পাখির রুপ ধরে ঐ মহিলার বাড়ির দেয়ালের সামনে এসে বসে। মহিলাটি তখন পাখিটিকে বলে তুমি নেমে এসো। আমি তোমাকে কিছু শোনাব আর তুমি আমাকে কিছু শোনাবে। পাখিরুপি জ্বীন টি বলে তা আর হবে না। কেননা মক্কায় শেষ নবী রাসুলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম এর আবির্ভাব হয়েছে। উনি আমার ও তোমার মাঝে ব্যভিচারকে চিরতরে হারাম ঘোষনা করে দিয়েছেন।

DRINKING WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM FOR VILLAGE POND,WELL
DRINKING WATER AT VILLAGES:
Community drinking water purification plants from surface water sources in case of arsenic and fluoride-affected habitations.
Pond or wells are the oldest method of groundwater withdrawal for water supply. The water from pond or wells has been found to be relatively free from dissolved arsenic,fluoride and iron.

DESCRIPTION OF PARTS OF THE SYSTEM :
The AOWAL-type sand filter is a low-cost technology with very high efficiency in Iron, Fluoride,turbidity and bacterial removal.
Micron filters remove Turbidity efficiently.
The Activated Alumina Filter removes both Arsenic and Fluoride.We can remove this filter if inlet Arsenic and fluoride content is within permissible limits. This will make our system completely chemical free.
UV Tube disinfects the water before supply.
We work with local NGO partners in both rural and urban areas to implement lasting solutions to water and sanitation issues and provide training.We are looking for PARTNERING with local NGOs.The NGOs can earn on a MONTHLY basis.The water filtered can be supplied in 20 liter jars at a rate of Rs.one per Liter.Expenses is 50 p/lit, So a Profit of 50p/liter is obtained.
This model can generate employment and provide clean drinking water to an entire village or an urban settlement. Local MLA or Gaon Panchayat can fund the project.

to provide 8-10 litres per capita per day (LPCD) of safe drinking water for drinking and cooking purposes in areas affected by fluoride, arsenic, heavy metals and pesticides.
