PEACE OF MIND TIPS AND ADVICE BY Vivek Goswami

PEACE OF MIND TIPS AND ADVICE

By Vivek Goswami

Most people would be glad to have some peace of mind in their life. They would be happy to forget their troubles, problems and worries, and enjoy a few moments of inner calmness and freedom from obsessing thoughts.

What is peace of mind? It is a state of inner calmness and tranquility, together with a sense of freedom, when thoughts and worries cease, and there is no stress, strain or fear. Such moments are not so rare. They may be experienced while being engaged in some kind of an absorbing or interesting activity, such as while watching an interesting movie or TV program, while being with someone you love, while reading a book or while lying on the sand at the beach.

When you are on vacation, do you experience some sort of mental numbness? At this time the mind becomes calmer, with fewer thoughts and fewer worries. Even while you are deeply asleep, not aware of your thoughts, you are in a state of inner peace.

Such and similar activities take away the mind from its usual thoughts and worries, and bring some temporary inner peace.

The question is how to bring more peace of mind into our life, and more importantly, how to experience it in times of trouble. You might also ask whether it is possible to make it a habit, and enjoy it always and under all circumstances. First, you need to learn to bring more moments of inner peace into your daily life. Later, you will be able to experience these moments in times of trouble or difficulties too, when you most need inner calmness and tranquility.

You can turn peace of mind into a natural habit, but to do so, special training is required, through concentration exercises, meditation and other means.

Here are a few simple things that can help you:

  1. Reduce the amount of time you read the newspapers or watch the news on TV.
  2. Stay away from negative conversations and from negative people.
  3. Don't hold grudges. Learn to forget and forgive. Nurturing ill feelings and grievances hurts you and causes lack of sleep.
  4. Don't be jealous of others. Being jealous means that you have low self-esteem and consider yourself inferior to others. This again, causes lack of inner peace.
  5. Accept what cannot be changed. This saves a lot of time, energy and worries.
  6. Every day we face numerous inconveniences, irritations and situations that are beyond our control. If we can change them, that's fine, but this is not always possible. We must learn to put up with such things and accept them cheerfully.
  7. Learn to be more patient and tolerant with people and events.
  8. Don't take everything too personally. Some emotional and mental detachment is desirable. Try to view your life and other people with a little detachment and less involvement. Detachment is not indifference, lack of interest or coldness. It is the ability to think and judge impartially and logically. Don't worry if again and again you fail to manifest detachment. Just keep trying.
  9. Let bygones be gone. Forget the past and concentrate on the present moment. There is no need to evoke unpleasant memories and immerse your self in them.
  10. Practice some concentration exercises. This will help you to reject unpleasant thoughts and worries that steal away your peace of mind.

Learn to practice meditation. Even a few minutes a day will make a change in your life.

Inner peace ultimately leads to external peace. By creating peace in our inner world, we bring it into the external world, affecting other people too.

Some additions from my side (saleem india blog):

Belief in GOD & ones own Destiny : There is certainly one supreme being or power. This supreme power controls everything including my breath. I have no control over my own body, my breath, my heart, my blood, my kidney, my lungs. I cant make them function as I wish. I cant tell my blood to go to one place and not go to another. They function on a preset program and expire one day as ordained.

So it's the supreme power and my destiny he has set, nothing more and nothing less. The only thing in my control is my efforts. Even in my efforts I need his help. So, always ask for his forgiveness (As we are sinners) and ask for his help at every step. Once your effort is over, than leave everything to him and accept what he has given you. Whatever he has given you is for something good.

If by your own effort you can become rich than everybody would have become Mukesh Ambani.

If you sincerely do the above thing than your inner fear, depression, jealousy and all other weaknesses will vanish.

And always maintain good company. In the company of shaitan, you will also become shaitan. Stay away from negative people.

Nothing is personal. Learn to forget and forgive. Forget the past and concentrate on the present moment.Life is just too short, you dunno what is going to happen in the next five minutes in your life, enjoy the present moment, its never going to come back again in your life.

I have survived a heart attack and it taught me a lot

People treat doctors like God. They follow the doctor's words like Bible.

But the doctors at Cardiac ICU say that they have just one protocol to follow for treating heart attack patients. The treatment method is the same for the patients, but some patients survives and some not. So my Cardiologist Dr.Chandra asked me to pray saying that Duwa kariye, dawa hum de rahe hain.

And be good to your parents, once gone you will forever lose the oppurtunity. Jisne khoya hain, usko pata hain.

The irony is that we remember God only in need, not in good times. And parents position are just next to God.

And finally always remember your own death. It may come anytime soon. Just a few moments ago I removed the name of Junaid from my address book as he died two weeks ago over his office table due to a massive heart attack. He was only 37 year old and left behind a 2 year old daughter.

I am lucky that I have survived.

HOW TO PICK UP GIRLS ON FACEBOOK

1. ADD GIRLS YOU THINK ARE CUTE
Spend a couple of hours per week, adding 5 to 10 girls you think are cute or really hot as a friend. Write an intriguing opening line in the “add message” box that pops up.
If you can’t think of anything funny or intriguing to say, just forget the message and add her as a friend anyway. Make sure your photos are up to date – Keep them fresh, like within the last couple of months .No nude girl photos in your album.

2. GET FAMILIAR WITH HER PAGE
Spend 15 minutes skimming through her about page, interests, past wall posts in her timeline and photos. Just get a good understanding of who she is, what she’s about and how she interacts with her friends. This will give you a better overview of her.
3. COMMENT ON NEW PHOTOS, VIDEOS AND STATUS UPDATES
When she posts a new photo, video or status update that you like, comment on it with a funny or positive message. Keep doing this for about 3 weeks, so she becomes familiar with you. Always post a funny comment or don’t post anything at all. Women like funny guys but if you’re always trying to be funny, it can wear thin pretty quickly. So use the funny lines every so often
4. SEND THE FIRST MESSAGE
After you’ve posted a few comments and liked her status updates, photos, videos etc, go ahead and message her to get the ball rolling.
Keep it brief, ask her opinion on something, so that she will likely respond. Women just can’t resist offering advice, it’s like breathing for them.If she responds to every message, it means she like you… so keep it up. Each message should be short and sweet, but you should be trying to connect with her. Try to really understand what she lives for, how she feels, and who she really is. Go with that goal and your conversations will be more interesting and connected.

Your personal space is your personal space. Respect it.NEVER SHARE PERSONAL THINGS ON FACEBOOK. A rule of thumb is to announce in FACEBOOK only the positive - a new job, a celebration or new degree. Steer clear of washing dirty linen in public. Do not talk about your bad day at work , about your boss , client or your unpleasant marriage. Remember: 500 friends of friends do not need to know.
