E- Mail Marketing

Targeted e-mail marketing

Targeted email marketing works. Truly targeted email means getting our email to recipients that HAVE approved of it. Not only do we get better results, we won't have to worry about ISP cancellation and more importantly, the reputation of our business. Here are the best targeted email marketing methods that have been used by marketers. They really work. They have been listed from most expensive to least expensive.
1. "Opt In" email list rental.
2. Ezine advertising.
3. Ezine publishing.
4. Email Discussion group participation.

Here are details on how we can utilize each

"Opt In" email list rental

Did you know that marketers can actually rent email lists of people who have approved email about certain topics? (Just about any topic imaginable!)

This method is not the cheapest form of targeted email marketing, but it works! On average, the expense will be about ten to fifteen Rupees per address. The companies that rent the addresses even do the mailing. One just sit has to sit back and wait for the orders!

Ezine advertising

Many marketers are big fans of ezine advertising and regularly utilize this low budget technique. Quite simply, email advertising works!

Take a look at the advertising section of your favorite email ezine. The reason there are so many ads there is because the advertisers get results. Not only do these ezines reach the target audience, they reach them by the thousands. Of all the online marketing methods available, ezine advertising could be the most effective.

Many larger companies are just starting to realize this and are entering into this exciting new advertising medium. Compared with the high costs of web site banner advertising, ezine advertising is a real bargain.

Ezine Publishing

One step better than "advertising" in ezines, is actually publishing your own. It is much easier than one might imagine it to be.

The customers and prospects can constantly be "in touch" with the advertiser and the advertiser can keep the customers abreast of new products and services that are available through the ezine. Advertisers can also generate income offering classified or sponsorship advertising on the ezine.

Unlike traditional newsletters, there are no printing or postage costs. Since the advertisers own cost is zero, theh ezine can be offered for free subscriptions, thus insuring a steady flow of new prospects.

Advertisers can manage and deliver their own ezines. With a good mail programs, all the work becomes becomes, and these programmes are also available for free . One needs to pay only for list Management.

Email discussion group participation.

An email discussion group is delivered via email like an email newsletter. But a discussion list is different in one major way - it allows an individual to voice his own opinions, usually through a moderator.

Discussion lists also allow recipients to seek help from others with similar interests. What's more, marketers can assist people in need of their service while the sig file (the footer that is included at the end of every email message sent) invites readers to the site. Discussion group marketing works because the posts are delivered directly "TO" a targeted audience. Like all the other forms of email marketing, discussion lists are a perfect example of push marketing at it's finest!

Now that you are armed with the facts about low-cost email marketing, go out and start your email marketing campaign today!

Excellent Infomation to Know---Spice Up Your Health with Everyday Seasonings

 Subject: Excellent Infomation to Know
Spice Up Your Health with Everyday Seasonings
Last year I wrote about how cinnamon is so good for you it can almost be considered a health food (Daily Health News article from January 5, 2006) -- simple, ordinary, pumpkin-pie flavoring cinnamon, the same stuff they now have in shakers at Starbucks. It's exciting to see the increasing focus of research on the health benefits of everyday spices like this -- capsaicin for prostate cancer... turmeric to reduce inflammation... ginger for nausea, to name just a few. A recent Wall Street Journal
article reported how several plants abundant in China are being studied as a potential source of medicines by drug company Novartis AG. It's no surprise. Herbs and spices, derived from various plants, have a long history of medicinal use in Chinese medicine. So what else is there in the spice rack that we can use to "healthify" our meals in a delicious way?
"Everyday spices are an amazing source of phytochemicals, which are plant compounds with extraordinary healing properties," explained Jonny Bowden, author of The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth
(Fair Winds). "Many of these spices have been used in traditional medicine for hundreds of years, and Western medicine is just beginning to realize their potential." Here are a few of Bowden's top picks for powering up your foods...
CINNAMON
Let's take another look at cinnamon, for example. "There are anti-inflammatory compounds in cinnamon that can be helpful in alleviating pain, stiffness and even menstrual discomfort," said Bowden. "Additionally, compounds in cinnamon increase the ability of the cells to take in sugar, which is how it effectively lowers blood sugar and reduces the need for higher levels of insulin." A study published in Diabetes Care showed that cinnamon lowered not only blood sugar, but also triglycerides, total cholesterol and LDL ("bad") cholesterol in people with type 2 diabetes. Though it's not always the case with our other plant-based remedies, with cinnamon the inexpensive supermarket variety is basically as good as any of the pricier oils and extracts sold in specialty stores.
GINGER
Then there is ginger, known as the "universal medicine" in Ayurvedic medicine. Daily Health News readers have already heard about using ginger to soothe an upset stomach and quell nausea. (See Daily Health News article from December 9, 2003). In fact, in one study on ginger root, it was shown to be as effective as Dramamine in holding seasickness at bay. Ginger also packs plenty of powerful antioxidants, Bowden told me. "And animal studies show that ginger has antimicrobial effects and helps boost the immune system as well."
TURMERIC
Turmeric -- the spice Bowden waxed most enthusiastic about -- is a member of the ginger family, and also a heavy hitter in health benefits. "It's as close to a magical substance as you're likely to find in the kitchen cupboard," he told me. He attributes this spice's anti-inflammatory properties to "curcumin," which is also responsible for making Indian food and curry dishes yellow. In India, turmeric is used to treat arthritis precisely because of its ability to lower inflammation, Bowden said, noting that research indicates that curcumin also may have an anti-tumor effect. If you're not an Indian food eater, you can try it in rice dishes or even on eggs. Do not use medicinal amounts of turmeric during pregnancy, though, because it stimulates contraction of the uterus.
OREGANO
Another spice touted for its health properties is oregano, which Bowden tells me "has been shown by research to have 42 times more antioxidant activity than apples and 12 times more than oranges." Oregano contains a powerful cancer-fighting compound called rosmarinic acid as well, and its anti-inflammatory properties make it useful in supporting joint function. Oregano is also a source of calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron and potassium.
GARLIC
Of course garlic is not always used as a spice, but it does have a well-deserved reputation for adding flavor and boosting health. One of the oldest medicinal foods we know of, it is recognized even by conservative mainstream medical professionals as being helpful in reducing cholesterol. Bowden cited a study that found garlic reduces triglycerides by up to 17%. It has a small but notably positive effect on blood pressure. "In places where the consumption of garlic is high, there's a decreased risk of stomach and colon cancer," Bowden added.
Some other spices that have health-promoting properties include...
·                                 Cardamom. Another member of the ginger family, cardamom is in spiced chai tea and used to flavor Turkish coffee, and is added to baked goods in Scandinavia. It stimulates digestion and flow of bile.
·                                 Mustard seeds. These are a source of magnesium and selenium, and can be taken orally to stimulate appetite and circulation, and to help neutralize inflammatory materials in the GI tract.
·                                 Parsley. A good source of vitamin K and potassium, and also helpful for detoxification.
·                                 Rosemary. Contains lots of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, plus substances that help prevent the premature breakdown of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that's vital for memory and healthy brain function.
·                                 Sage. Contains rosmarinic acid (like oregano), which is both an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory, along with thujone, which can be protective against salmonella and candida.
·                                 Thyme. Helps relieve chest and respiratory problems, including coughs and bronchitis.
MORE THAN A PINCH?
Since many of the research studies on these items used high doses of them, I asked Bowden how much of each is needed to make a difference. The answer varies, he said, but usually more than is typically used for seasoning is required to achieve a notable benefit -- though it seems logical that adding a variety of spices, more often and in plentiful amounts, would have a cumulative positive effect. Though some of the dried spices retain their healthful properties, usually fresh herbs are nutritionally superior -- not to mention delicious, and fun and easy to grow. (You can read more about creating your own herb garden in the Daily Health News article from April 6, 2004.)
One thing that is especially nice about Bowden's recommendations is the fact that all of these spices are common flavors you can add to all sorts of foods -- they're easy to find and don't require a refined palate to enjoy. So go ahead and spice up your menu -- your food will taste more interesting and you'll feel better, too.

Magic pill to cut heart attack risk
28 Jul 2007, 1613 hrs IST,ANI
LONDON: Men over 50 should take daily 3-in-1 'polypill' to keep heart attack at bay, according to a UK government's leading cardiac expert.

Professor Roger Boyle, the Department of Health's national director for heart disease and stroke suggested that the magical 1 pound a day pill will have a cholesterol-busting statin, aspirin and drugs to lower blood pressure.

As for women, there was no early requirement of the pill because their hormones protected against heart disease until menopause.

CARBON TRADING OR CLEAN DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM (CDM)

CARBON TRADING OR CLEAN DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM (CDM)

Solar cooking system at Sringeri Math helps save 27,500 liter of diesel a year. Using clean technology like solar energy at minimal cost to feed thousands of people every day these institutions are saving money they would have spent on tones of diesel or thousands of LPG cylinders and at the same time reducing emissions that cause global warming.

Carbon trading allows these institutes to buy solar and biomass based kitchen and claim carbon credits.

Here how it works. The Kyoto protocol for climate change sets specific targets for developed countries to reduce their carbon emissions. Since cutting down emissions can be costly for them, many of them avail the option of providing clean technology to entities in developing countries to meet the targets.

So, entities in India etc can switch to cleaner technologies and have the developed countries pick up the tab. While these entities get clean technology, the developed countries get catrrbon credits in the process.

How to Use a USB Flash Drive

How to Use a USB Flash Drive

A Flash Drive is a small self-powered drive that connects to a computer directly through a USB port. It's both Mac and PC compatible, so you can transfer files between both Macs and PCs. They are supported on all public machines, although some flash drives require a user to install drivers before use. Flash drives can hold any type of data, including excel, jpeg, video, and text files. Flash drives are also commonly referred to as key drive, thumb drives, jump drives, USB drives and pen drives.

Introduction:

Flash drives are meant as a way to get files to and from multiple computers. They are NOT for backups. We strongly encourage users to backup files to CD-RW or CD-R disks or zip disks.

Please note that not all flash drives are the same. Some may require extra drivers to be installed on a computer in order for them to function properly. Public computers do not allow drivers to be installed. Therefore, not all flash drives will be compatible with public computers.

Flash drives come with varying amounts of memory. You may purchase a flash drive that is approximately the size of a zip disk, or 256MB. Also, you have the option of purchasing a few 32MB drives instead of a single 256MB drive.

Some of the most popular brand name drives, are Lexar, Sandisk, Kingston, PNY, and Iomega.

Copying files to a flash drive on a PC:

  1. Open My Computer and see which drives are shown. Most computers, for example, have a hard disk such as a C: drive and a few removable storage devices such as a floppy drive, a CD-ROM drive, and perhaps a zip drive.
  2. Insert the flash drive into the USB port and watch to see where the USB flash drive appears. Most will appear as removable storage, but some will instead appear as hard drives. Note the name Windows is using to refer to the flash drive ("Removable Disk (G:)," for example).
  3. Open My Documents or the location from which you want to transfer files to the flash drive. Select the files or folders you want to save to the flash drive by left-clicking on them. To select more than one, hold down the CTRL key while you click and select all of the files you wish to save.
  4. Right-click on the file(s) or folder(s) you selected, then select Send to, then select the name you saw appearing in My Computer for the flash drive ("Removable Disk (G:)," for example).
  5. When the copying is finished, do not immediately remove the flash drive from the USB port. Instead, left-click on the Remove Hardware icon located in the System Tray. A window containing a list of the USB devices will appear. Left-click on the Safely Remove Mass Storage Device line that matches your flash drive (for example, Safely Remove Mass Storage Device - Drive(G:)).
  6. When you see the following message appear in the bottom left toolbar, it is, as it says, safe to remove the flash drive from the USB port; you may close the message or ignore it, as it will close itself automatically:

USB flash drive

A small, portable flash memory card that plugs into a computer's USB port and functions as a portable hard drive. USB flash drives are touted as being easy-to-use as they are small enough to be carried in a pocket and can plug into any computer with a USB drive. USB flash drives have less storage capacity than an external hard drive, but they are smaller and more durable because they do not contain any internal moving parts.

USB flash drives also are called thumb drives, jump drives, pen drives, key drives, tokens, or simply USB drives.

Solid State Hard Disk:

The current generation of solid state hard disk technology is being put to a wide variety of uses in defense and industrial applications. Where rotating drives may have been the necessary evil ten years ago, a solid state hard disk can now take its place, and offer the highest degree of reliability and best performance. Not having the Achilles heel of moving parts, (ergo, solid state) hard drive storage have virtually no acoustic signature, are extremely light weight, and require much less power than a typical 2.5" or 3.5" HDD.

With all of these advantages, however, one of the highest concern when implementing a solid state hard disk into your application is its durability.
Adtron flash disks are capable of withstanding a higher degree of environmental distress while delivering exceptional write endurance in I/O intensive applications.

In addition to high durability, Adtron solid state hard disks deliver the industry's best sustained read and write rates without using volatile cache memory as a buffer between the host and the solid state media. The use of cache memory introduces a point of failure where data loss can be significant, especially if battery backup is not used. The Adtron ArrayProTM performance engine delivers high performance beyond that typically found in a comparable solid state hard disk product or an HDD.

For example, Adtron's I25FB IDE flash disk passed standard military standards testing conducted by National Technical Systems in Tempe, AZ. Beyond the standard MIL-STD-810F testing, MIL-S-901D tests demonstrate that the I25FB Flashpak flash disk is capable of withstanding shipboard shock loadings which may be incurred during wartime service due to the effects of weapon attacks while at sea. In separate MIL-STD-167-1 tests, the I25FB solid state hard disk proved resilient to internally and externally imposed shipboard vibrations, while subject to dry and damp heat conditions, necessary to operate in a shipboard environment.

In the first U. S. Navy application, the Adtron 16 GByte I25FB solid state hard disk with commercial temperature media is being installed in the Local Control Panels (LOCOPs) by Woodward Governor Company. The LOCOPs are designed to monitor and control the parameters required to start and operate the generator sets used on the CG-47 Ticonderoga class cruisers and DDG-51 Arleigh Burke class destroyers. "Compared to rotating mechanical hard drives, solid state flash disks deliver clear reliability and durability advantages for shipboard applications," stated Andy Cullis, Woodward's Military/Marine Account Manager. "Adtron's flash disks provide a very robust data storage solution, which is critical to meeting the Navy's shock, vibration, temperature and humidity requirements for the LOCOP."

municipal solid waste--waste to energy

Alka's is the world's first continuous process for all manner of waste plastics"

Pie on the table:

We are not talking of a pie in the sky idea that is still in the laboratory. Alka and her husband Umesh, are buying in 5 tonnes of plastic waste everyday in Nagpur,India at prices attractive to rag pickers. They are wringing fuel oil out of that unsightly pile and selling it to industries. Production from their plant, Unique Plastic Waste Management & Research Co Pvt Ltd is sold out for the next year.

In the produce, approximately 70% is liquid hydrocarbon, 15% is gas and 5% is solid coke. Balance is ash and metal fines.

Her work is breathtaking good news for this planet's environment.

Bio- petroleum from sewage sludge
BioPetrol is developing a commercially viable global solution for turning sewage sludge into oil, saving enormous sums in disposal and saving the earth from the destructive sewage dumping which is ruining the environment.

The substantial increase in the amount of sewage sludge worldwide has become a major environmental concern. The treatment and disposal of sewage sludge is a never-ending problem for cities around the world which requires innovative new solutions. Because the disposal of sludge consumes more than 30% of the budget of wastewater treatment plants, sludge handling equipment is of vital interest to plant operators.
The technological processes involved in the Bio-Petrol generation belong to the sphere of liquefying carbon-rich solid fuels. The liquefaction processes common today comprise two stages:

1. Thermal breakdown of the molecular structure to create radical fractions different in size.

2. Stabilization of the radicals by recombining themselves or by redistribution of hydrogen from the raw material itself or by hydrogen that is introduced from outside (molecular hydrogen or from hydrogen-donor matter).

Measures to be implemented to resolve the problem of sewage sludge that contain a high degree of organic matter could primarily aim at recycling it through a thermo chemical pyrolysis process in order to recover hydrocarbons that make up the structure of sewage sludge. Pyrolysis of sewage sludge produces oil, gas and char products. The pyrolysis oils have also been shown to contain valuable chemicals in significant concentrations and hence may have the potential to be used as chemical feedstock.
The process of low temperature thermochemical conversion of municipal sewage sludge to oil is a new technology in developed countries. The amount of investment is still less than the amount invested in the sewage sludge incineration process, and the operational economy of the process is obviously superior to incineration.
=====================
Pyrolysis and gasification, like incineration, are options for recovering value from sewage sludge by thermal treatment. Both pyrolysis and gasification turn sewage sludge into energy-rich fuels by heating the sludge under controlled conditions. Whereas incineration fully converts the input sewage sludge into energy and ash, these processes deliberately limit the conversion so that combustion does not take place directly. Instead, they convert the sewage sludge into valuable intermediates that can be further processed for materials recycling or energy recovery.

Pyrolysis and gasification offer more scope for recovering products from sewage sludge than incineration. When sludge is burnt in a modern incineration the only practical product is energy, whereas the gases, oils and solid char from pyrolysis and gasification can not only be used as fuel, but also purified and used as a feedstock for petrochemicals and other applications. Obviously, there is a growing demand for sludge management technologies capable of: 1). Meeting increasingly stringent regulatory requirements. 2.) Effectively utilizing potential for material and/or energy recovery.
More over it will help to reduce the stream and river pollution that is caused by disposing off sludge. This technology of preparing biopetroleum will also lead to a revolution in petroleum industry an will also help in protecting environment.

The technology, improved by BioPetrol Ltd. (patent pending) is capable of processing carbon wastes, other than sewage sludge, including agri-wastes, bagasse, pulp and paper residues, tannery sludge and other end-of-life products such as plastics, tires and the organics in municipal solid waste.

07-07-07 Fern and the Bamboo---FROM JEBEEN

A story with a difference....

The Fern and the Bamboo

One day I decided to quit...I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality.... I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one
last talk with God.

"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me.

"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"

"Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from
the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

In the second year the fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit.

The same in year four.

"Then in the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern, it was seemingly small and insignificant. But just six months
later, the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.

I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.

"Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, You have actually been growing roots?
I would not quit on the bamboo.
I will never quit on you.

"Don't compare yourself to others." He said. "The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful.

"Your time will come", God said to me. "You will rise high"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest, realizing that God will never give up on me.

And He will never give up on you.

Never regret a day in your life.

add life to years, learn to laugh

add life to years, learn to laugh
when u cultivate a humorous attitude to life, your child like nature emerges.there is a child in us which wants to be free.as we grow older the child in us is suppressed and hence our playfulness also gets suppressed.joy of life disappears when we lose ourselves in seriousness..this kills the joy of living...

First-borns are smarter: Study

Experts say the true value of the study is that it traces a co-relation between IQ, and how a child is raised. Frank J Sulloway, of the Institute for Personality and Social Research at the University of California, Berkeley, is quoted as saying that the 'elegantly designed' study indicated that the elder child pulls ahead, perhaps as a result of additional learning gained while tutoring younger brothers and sisters.

Tangentially, the study also appears to indicate that a child who in the family structure is given a position of responsibility -- in this case, of being treated as the eldest child -- tends to grow mentally, as opposed to children treated as `subordinate' units of the family.
